Cuba ratifies its cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union

The Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, Mrs. Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, met Mr. Houlin Zhao, new Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The diplomat spoke about Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening the cooperation with the ITU and wished success to Mr. Zhao in his period in office, after been elected to that position in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference held in Busan, South Korea.

Rodriguez Camejo confirmed the importance of the commitments agreed in the World Summit on the Information Society, its follow-through and holding ten years later. In that sense, he extended an invitation to Mr. Zhao to participate in the next International Conference “New scenarios of political communication in the digital field – 2015” to be held in Havana, Cuba, from February 9 to 11, 2015, event which is part of this commemoration.

As for he, the Secretary General of the ITU recognized Cuba's activism in the works of the Union. He also referred to the 150th anniversary of the ITU in 2015 and the many activities that will take place in this regard.
