Glossary of terms

  • Active X Environment to define software components reusable independently of the programming language, supported by the object linking and embedding (OLE) controls technology, Visual Basic and the environment of the Windows’ OLE Control Extension (OCX) created by Microsoft. It allows Windows applications to interact with the World Wide Web. Currently it is only supported by the Explorer, although there are plans to integrate it to Macintosh and UNIX platforms.
  • Antivirus Advanced programs, which aims to detect and remove malicious software (malware, spyware, rootkits) or computer viruses.
