The American company SailPoint, specialized in ID management solutions and access control, has published a survey, which concludes there is a generalized level of indifference among employees towards the protection of sensitive corporate data, including clients’ personal information.
The survey polled 1000 workers of big organizations and among other results stand out that:
20% of employees share login information with other members of the team, which increases the risk of leaking information concerning the security credentials of the company.
56% admitted a certain level of password reuse in corporate applications, and 14% uses the same password for all apps to which they have access (social networks, personal emails, …) and for the company’s (critical apps).
SailPoint ratifies the great risk it represents to reuse passwords, particularly how vulnerable a company becomes to hacker organizations, when internally people use passwords that are also used in personal apps.
The survey confirms the necessity of implementing effective systems of ID Management that allow controlling user identities and their passwords in a more secure way.
